The track 'Grow' is meant to pay respect to one of our favorite hardcore bands, Killing the Dream. It features the end of their song, "We're All Dead Ends", which was and will always be one of my favorites. To this day, it gives me chills and transports me back to one of the most important times of my life. It fills me with an energy that's impossible to contain.
Being a female in the punk and hardcore communities wasn't always easy. I was bullied, harassed, and ostracized by many. Killing the Dream shows were some of the first instances where I started to feel accepted and find my voice both in music and in my daily existence. I want to thank them for everything they've given me and so many others.
lyrics
Growing up, I had had enough.
Beat down, broken, left out.
I couldn't see it their way. Could not feel it their way.
I needed something, a place to go.
And then I found it, I started to know what it felt like to be alright.
To feel something.
No one can stop this. No one can take this away from us.
No one can break this. No one can take this away from us.
Bleeding hands reaching out for help.
I just needed someone to listen.
But first, I needed to find my voice.
I hear the sound. It shakes me back to life.
It wakes me from this living nightmare. I finally feel alright.
We're all fucked. So, fuck it all. (KTD)
--- Killing the Dream: We're All Dead Ends ---
There's nothing we can do.
We're all going down. On this ship, we'll never make it home.
Nothing every changes because everything was meant to fail.
And we're feeling it again. So, scream.
Fuck it all.
Sludge, Shoegaze, Atmospheric, Heavy Metal, Alt-metal, you name it. This album has it all, and it is perfect. It came out during a rough time period of my life and others lives too. It's been the soundtrack for all of my pain. Thank you Hum tawper
